Friend’s Fiji Style®foods are gourmet products made from local recipes and using local resources. Our food products are made with passion and care under strict quality control procedures in our community kitchen in Lautoka. Products are developed and made by people from our target communities under the FRIEND income generation program, Developing Enterprises for Sustainable Income (DESI).
The DESI food department receives product samples from interested community members and, after trials and tests, encourages them towards full scale production at the community kitchen. The aim of the program is to encourage unemployed members of the communities to use their skills and resources to make products that can be sold in the market.

Friend’s Fiji Style ® Tamarind Chutney
A tangy and tempting favourite
This tasty chutney is one of our most popular products. It is available in 200g and 400g jars and as a 5 litre catering pack. It can be enjoyed with savory snacks, as a dip or as a flavorful accompaniment to any vegetarian Indian dish.

Tamarind Chutney was one of the first trial products undertaken by Ba Senior Citizens Centre under the leadership of Late Satya Bali. After being a trial product for about 8 months, Tamarind Chutney was launched in 2003.

Friend’s Fiji Style ® Chilli Chutney
A hot and spicy treat
This much-loved chutney has a taste that is both hot and sweet. It is available in 200g and 400g jars and also gift-wrapped in a basket. It can be enjoyed with savory snacks, as a dip or accompaniment and it makes an excellent marinade for chicken, lamb or beef. It can be used as a tasty alternative to chilli sauce to accompany burgers, fries and chicken.

Chilli Chutney was started as a fund raising product and sales assist with the administration costs of FRIEND. It is made from bongo chillies that are supplied by farmers from Rakiraki,Tavua and Ba. Ladies from rural communities outside Lautoka work on the production of this product.

A Fiji Style twist on the classic chutneyHaving a sweet and spicy taste, this product is made from a traditional Indian recipe and a popular accompaniment to meals. It can also be used as a dip or as an addition to tapas or cold platters. It is available in 200g and 400g sizes.

Friend's Fiji Style ® Sweet Mango Chutney was launched in 2005 and this project is run by ladies from a rural community outside Lautoka. Mangoes for the production of this product are bought from farmers from Ba and Lautoka.

PICKLES
Our pickles are made from the best seasonal ingredients and include a natural preservative, mustard oil, which helps them to last for a long time without artificial additives. FRIEND guarantees a shelf life of three years for all its pickles.
Friend’s Fiji Style ® Chilli Pickle
A fiery pickle that’s not for the faint hearted!
Made to a traditional Indian recipe passed down through generations, Chilli Pickle can be enjoyed as an accompaniment to any kind of dish. It also makes an excellent marinade for chicken, lamb or beef. It is available in 200g and 400g jars.
We use the best Fiji bongo chillies, which make this pickle hot, hot, hot!

The bongo chillies and tamarind used to make this hot pickle are supplied by local farmers from Rakiraki, Tavua and Ba. This product was started by a lady from Saweni, just outside Lautoka, with the help of three other women. These ladies were able to earn a much needed income for their families by utilizing natural resources and their own skills. Launched in 2006, Chilli Pickle has quickly gained a devoted fan base.

Friend’s Fiji Style ® Mango Pickle
Suva’s favourite pickle
This pickle is made from the finest Fiji mangoes, supplied seasonally by farmers in Ba and Lautoka. Available in 200g and 330g jars, it is very popular as a gift in basket.
Mango Pickle goes very well with dhal and rice and is a great addition to a vegetarian thali.
This product is prepared by ladies from a rural Lautoka community. It is a very popular product in Fiji’s Central Division due to the shortage of mangoes in that area!

Friend’s Fiji Style ® Lime Pickle
A zesty tasting popular pickle
Available in 150g and 330g jars, this is a seasonal product which FRIEND makes available all year round.
Meyer lemons are used to make this spicy, fresh tasting pickle. It goes very well with both vegetarian and meat dishes.
It’s a delicious addition to our recipe for Pizza Toast with Lime Pickle
The idea of starting the production of lime pickles was conceived by a lady from a rural community who brought in samples. The samples were approved at once. Farmers as well as the ladies benefit from this project.

JAM, MARMALADE & HONEY Guava Jam just like they make it at home. Guava is a favorite fruit in Fiji and from this we have made a delicious Fijian homestyle jam. In Fiji it is hard to get locally sourced and made jam so at FRIEND we are leading the way with this 100% locally sourced and made jam. It makes a delicious spread for bread and biscuits and is great in sandwiches or as a fruit sauce for ice cream. Guava Jam is available in 200g jars. Try using our jam in a fruity Guava Shake Guava Jam was developed by a group of women from rural communities near Lautoka and the fruit is supplied by local communities. All our jams, marmalade and honey are made from natural and locally sourced ingredients, without use of artificial colorings, flavorings or preservatives.
The western division of Fiji has an abundance of some local fruits. Seeing this, some women from rural Lautoka communities brought in samples of various jams and marmalades. After a long process of tasting and testing, the production of these jams and marmalade began. Many of the local fruit jams are still trial products, available only at the FRIEND Suva Shop, and more work is being done to improve the standard, consistency and shelf life of these preserves.

Friend’s Fiji Style ® Guava Jam
A tropical tasting classic
The finest Fiji lemons give this marmalade a delicious tropical taste. Spread it onto fresh buttered toast for a delicious zingy taste. It is available in 200g jars. Samples of marmalade recipes were submitted by women in rural communities and much time was spent in the FRIEND community kitchen perfecting the recipe for maximum shelf life. Friend’s Fiji Style® food products are only released onto the general market when we are completely happy with them and finally we have a marmalade recipe that has passed the tests!

Friend’s Fiji Style ® Pure Honey
Fiji is blessed with a profusion of wild flowers and from these our local bees make delicious Fiji honey. Friend's Fiji Style® Honey is 100% pure and is available in 220g jars.
Honey has a multitude of uses including as a spread for bread or biscuits. For sweet treats, try our recipes for Cassava Honey Bread, Satwa and Peanut Butter Cocoa Balls with Friends Fiji Style Honey or for the perfect way to cool down on a hot day try our Honey Lemon Cooler.
Our honey is sourced from local bee farms in Rakiraki, Tavua and Ba.
Pure Honey is also available as a Gift Pack, in a traditional Fijian hand-woven basket, gift wrapped in clear cellophane with a vau flower.
